How to Replace the Dash Panels, Covers & Vents on All 1996 - 2000 Honda Civic LX / del Sol 1.6L 4 Cyl Engines.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

Before disconnecting the battery cable(s) or the radio electrical connectors, make sure to note the radio security code. Once disconnected, the radio will not function until the code is entered.

CAUTION: The models covered by this guide are equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS.

Perform the following procedures BEFORE working on the interior components.

  • Note the radio security code and disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).

CAUTION: Failure to observe the previously stated repair procedures could result in severe physical injury.

Glove Box / Compartment

Fig. Once all fasteners have been removed, remove the glove box by pulling it straight out of the dash

  • Open the glove box and release the two limiting stops from both sides of the glove box.
  • Remove the two Phillips screws that secure the glove box hinges, and remove the glove box.
  • Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Driver's Side Lower Dash Cover

  • Remove the Phillips screws from the lower left and right corners.
  • Carefully pull the panel to release the clips on the upper portion of the panel. There are 3 clips on the left, and one on the right.
  • Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

Driver's Side Lower Knee Bolster

  • Remove the driver's lower dash cover.
  • Remove the knee bolster mounting bolts and release the bolster from the hooks to remove.
  • Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
