How to Replace the Electric Cooling Fans on All 1997 - 2000 Toyota Camry / Avalon 2.2L 4 Cyl Engines.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

NO.1 COOLING FAN

  • Disconnect the cable at the negative battery terminals.
  • Remove the battery and tray.
  • Detach the cruise control actuator.
  • Disconnect the No.3 relay block from the radiator.
  • Detach the cooling fan connector.
  • Remove the wire clamps from the cooling fan shroud.
  • Remove the cooling fan by removing the two retaining bolts.

To install:

  • Installation is the reverse of removal.
  • Install the cooling fan by installing the two retaining bolts.
  • Install the wire clamps from the cooling fan shroud.
  • Attach the cooling fan connector.
  • Connect the No.3 relay block to the radiator.
  • Attach the cruise control actuator.
  • Install the battery and tray.
  • Connect the cable at the negative battery terminals.

No.2 cooling fan

  • Drain the engine coolant.
  • Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator end.
  • Detach the cooling fan and Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) switch connectors.
  • Remove the wire connectors from the electric cooling fan housing.
  • Remove the bolts and then the cooling fan.

To install:

  • Installation is the reverse of removal.
